LYRS Publications
Over the years from 1950 to the present day the Society has had many changes to its publications. At first a newsletter was published and to those who are familiar with such technology as stencils and Roneo duplicators it does not seem that long ago since the art of producing a printed communication to the members was a major task.
Nowadays it is all done on computer and although it is easier in some ways the standards we set are higher as are the expectations of our membership. It takes some dedication and effort to produce the finished publications we see today. Now we don’t even have to take the copy to the printers, it is all sent electronically. You can see how far we have come if you browse through the front covers of our past publications.

Our first major change came about when we produced an A5 full printed version of Newsletter 100 this kick started our journal Platform in A5 format which changed to A4 with issue 37 and eventually became LYR Focus with issue number 60.
Along with the Branchline series came some special productions on wagons, signalling and electrification as well as other specials.
With the production of a dedicated historical journal (Platform) other items of a more transient nature continued to be published in our newsletter. This too has developed over the years first as a spot colour magazine with issue number 213 and finally full colour throughout with issue 219.
Along with the changes in our publications a higher quality of reproduction has been achieved setting new standards for historical railway societies such as ours. Our newer media is our website which with its developing resources we hope will eventually supply information in a modern and readily accessible form which can be downloaded to suit individual requirements.
We anticipate that as things progress we can achieve even more with our different types of media, watch this space!
