Second Rose Grove book published
The latest Society publication is the second volume of the definitive history of Rose Grove by Noel Coates.
Rose Grove, near Burnley, was a major railway centre in its heyday with marshalling yards for the extensive freight traffic and a locomotive depot.
This first volume included an historical overview of the area and a detailed look at each location within it. The book contains 159 photographs, many of which have never previously been published, and numerous drawings and tables.
The second volume concentrates on the traffic working at this busy marshalling yard and contains extracts from working timetables for several different historical periods. Once again it includes many previously unpublished photographs and brings the story of Rose Grove up to date.
Copies of both books cost £9.95, plus postage and packing, and can be obtained from the Society’s Publications Sales Officer Alex Hodson at 8, St Michaels Close, Lawhitton, Launceston, Cornwall PL15 9NF Tel: 01566 776463 or sales@lyrs.org.uk
