Nigel Thornley
We are deeply sorry to announce the death of our very good friend Nigel Thornley on 31st May 2021. Nigel has made an enormous contribution to the Society over many years which will be sorely missed but far more importantly he was a kind, generous man who was a good friend.

Nigel's collection of models and books will be sold by auction on September 11th 2021.
Hanson’s Auctioneers and Valuers Ltd are handling the sale which will be held at
Bishton Hall, Bellamore Lane, Wolsely Bridge, Staffordshire ST17 0XN and online.
The online catalogue should be available for viewing from late August/early September.

Nigel had amassed an enormous eclectic collection of models including many Lancashire & Yorkshire
prototypes in 7mm scale, a small number of which are illustrated below.

Nigel also had a huge collection of books and this is your chance to add long out of print titles to your collection.

To take part in the auction go to and register for the online auction.

Animated Passenger Timetable
L&YR Society members, Brian Farrimond, John McGiveron, Frank Ball and Alec Ralph have transcribed the L&YR tables of Bradshaw's Railway Guide of 1906. The transcription has been used to create on-line animations of the running of the L&YR passenger service on a week day and a Sunday.

The transcription will also be used by the Edge Hill University 3D Parametric Modelling Project in their development of tools to create a visualisation of the entire railway.

More information and links to the animations can be found here.

Whilst our exhibitions in the UK are currently on hold our stands in Australia will be out and about during 2021 so please call at the stand where you'll find a range of our publications on sale and our stand team will be happy to answer your questions.
